On Friday, October 28th make your way over to Riverside drive and celebrate Halloween weekend with some live music while dressed to terrify. First fifty guests will receive a fun party favor and you can even ask about their “bloody” cocktails. This is your chance to party with some local talent and go all out with your metal look and entry is only 15$.

Brew Paul’s Drag Show: Halloween Edition

On October 29th this Halloween season, you can head over to Meanwhile Brewing Co on Promontory Point drive in Austin for Brew Paul’s Drag Show, the Halloween Edition. From 9-11 you can come out and see the drag show that has been gaining more popularity with every round. Though plenty of seating is available, you can even bring a blanket out to get comfy on the astroturf. There will be a costume contest along with the show, with Meanwhile Brewing gift card prizes for the top three costumes of the evening. Cheri Bomb, Maxine LaQueene and DJ Mark Irwin are just a few of the talented performers being featured alongside host Eileen Dover. You will have access to a full bar and are encouraged to dress up in costume and dance the night away, even though this event is virtually silent from a bystanders perspective. Pick up a pair of headphones switch at will between 3 different channels as the DJ’s compete for your attention while playing a variety of music styles. Gather up all your friends for an event that is perfect for people who don’t want to feel too crowded in what is normally an incredibly loud party scene. At the Spooky Silent Disco from 10 pm – 2 am just a couple days before Halloween night you can get all the fun of a night out with none of the annoying ringing in your ears after the fact.


Shows & Performances

Austin has a knack for presenting all types of performances and shows year round and this Halloween weekend, you can take in some local culture that might shock you in the best possible way. There’s nothing quite like taking in a show hosted by our local theaters and dance groups. Who knew that such a thing as a “haunted ballet” even existed to begin with?

For the theater and dance lovers in your party, you will want to head over to the Spider House Ballroom on Fruth street for an all adults show this Halloween weekend. Book your tickets for Friday October 28th, or Saturday October 29th and don your best undead garb for a performance by Ventana Ballet. Unlike ballet show you’ve been to before; audience members even choose the dancer’s fates as the story unfolds. You can select between two performance times each night (6:30 and 8:30 pm) for the Undead: Haunted House of Dances, and the bar area will be open for those who want to pregame before showtime.

S&S Productions is well known throughout Austin for their breathtaking, tantalizing, and sexy showcases, especially their annual Halloween Ball & Aerial Cabaret. On Friday October 29th of this year, you can book tickets for a performance at The Belmont on West 6th street in Austin. Trapeze, flying pole and rope work are only a handful of dynamic styles being presented with this show. Show times start at 8 pm, with a later show at 10 pm and tickets sell fast so hurry up and book now. When you’re interested in an experience that is racier than your average entertainment in Austin, you can trust that S&S productions is there to impress. Featuring ten acts with one intermission, the Halloween Ball & Aerial Cabaret is for the grownups and will be memorable to say the absolute least.

Normally, we don’t make any lists with events that aren’t happening in Austin specifically but there are some haunted houses happening this year that are too epic to not feature. First mention on the list is a haunted experience happening in Austin, but true scare fanatics will want to make the drive for the other three. Every item featured next is either in Austin or less than an hour drive away.

For the last 20 years, House of Torment on Ridgepoint drive has mortified Austin locals and has no intent to slow down. Getting better each year, House of Torment has received multiple awards over the years for their haunted experiences, even making the HAA (Haunted Attractions Association) list for being so scary. Strap up your close toed shoes and get ready to walk through themed attractions like The Abominations and Tormented. Tickets sell out fast during Halloween weekend so be sure to book in advance, fast passes are even available for people who don’t want to wait in long lines.

Only 15 miles from Downtown Austin, Bat City Scaregrounds isn’t your average haunted house by any means. Featuring three terrifying haunted houses, live music, Vegas-style performances and even food, there’s tons going on with this event on South Turnersville Road. Tickets are affordable, starting at only 30 dollars and you get more than your money’s worth with everything they’ve got going on. Happening through the entire month of October, a visit to Bat City Scaregrounds is a must for Halloween weekend in the Austin area.

100% put on by volunteers, Scare for a Cure is an annual event that gives folks something to enjoy during Halloween while raising money and awareness for the Breast Cancer Research Center along with other local charities. Located about 20 minutes away from Austin, Scare for a Cure tickets are only 45$ per person and include a variety of scares and thrills. This haunted experience is full contact so don’t wear your nice clothes. You will leave this haunt covered in (fake) blood and other gore style sludge, having to climb, crawl and duck under whatever might come your way. Located on Littig Road in Manor Texas, the drive isn’t very far from Austin and worth the ride to scare your pants off while raising money for great local causes.

A little further of a drive from Austin than the other list mentions, Scream Hollow is just under an hour away from Austin but you won’t regret making the trip out. Coined as being “scary, but not too scary” based on prior reviews, you can even bring the kids out to this spooky setting for Halloween this year. Five haunted attractions and a hayride should be enough to convince you to take this trip with everyone in your group or family but that’s not all they offer at Scream Hollow. Historic exhibits, live music and even a beer garden can be found with this event, keeping all of your party busy for the entire evening. Ticket prices range depending on group size and how many of the attractions you are wanting to visit so take a moment to browse online and find the best option for you.
